The musculoskeletal system is composed of osseous (bone) tissue and muscle tissue. Both are essential parts of the complex structure that is the body. The skeletal system has a major role in the total structure of the body, but bones and joints alone cannot produce movement. Together, skeletal tissue and muscle tissue are important parts of the functioning of the body as a whole Occasional references to military terminology or combat situations do not detract from the lesson's relevance for civilian medicine and health care. |
