World History is the study of ...
well ... the history of the world. Traditionally,
western schools regarded world history in terms of
European and American history. More recently, we see
histories of Asia and Africa taking their rightful
place in the history curricula. So now we have
a history of the whole world, and not
a segment that appears to have a direct
bearing on our local culture.
Of
course there are professional historians, mostly
history teachers. World History has a relatively
high
career asset
value as a
wrapper for critical research and thinking
skills that apply to a broad spectrum of
seemingly unrelated career descriptors—business,
public service, law, authors, literary agents, film
critics, to name just a view
