Nuclear engineers perform a
variety of engineering work in research, design, development, testing,
operating, and maintaining nuclear plant and equipment, such as reactor
cores, radiation shielding, and associated instrumentation and control
mechanisms for the release, control, and utilization of nuclear energy.
May direct operating and maintenance activities of an operational
nuclear facility. Work requires knowledge of engineering equivalent to
at least that acquired through completion of 4-year college engineering
program.
