Successful creative writers only exist by ignoring
the opinions of others. Writing by consensus is a sure
path to mediocrity. So you can know you aren't ready for
prime-time authorship as long as you are compulsively
seeking critiques and corrections from others. That is
all meaningless at best, and self-destructive at worst.
Here is where you can exercise your
fiction writing skills. We don't tell you how to do it.
That's up to you. Our job is to show you some paths
to explore. How it all turns out is up to you.
Don't look for quizzes and exams
that are intended to test your understanding. That's
"old school." You are here to write—your growing portfolio of original
works is far more relevant than grades.
